Solomon's Porch

Who are we?

We are young and old, broken and redeemed, quirky and comfortable, creative and delicious….

A lot like it’s owners, Solomon’s Porch is imperfect and a continual work in progress. Solomon’s Porch has been gladly serving the people Wilmore for over 25 years. Our menu is diverse, locally sourced, funny and accommodating for any need. All of our beautiful sweet treats are made fresh in house by the hands of our talented staff. Converted from an old butcher shop, our building is modest, eclectic, and unpresuming. We invite you to come as you are and enjoy peaceful community with us as we continue to grow into all the Lord intends for us to be!

About the Owners

Tim and Erin Gibson
Both Tim and Erin are graduates of Asbury (College) University, Wilmore. Tim and Erin are the fulltime owner/managers at Solomon’s Porch Cafe. Originally, they are from out of state, Tim from Northfield, New Jersey, and Erin from Sewickley, Pennsylvania.
Tim has a heart for “misfits”, having served as a youth pastor for several years during high school and college and graduating from Asbury with a degree in Christian Ministries in 2001. Tim previously worked for Metro Group Homes, a non-profit youth shelter in Lexington. Tim still feels this passion for young people and continues to seek out opportunities to serve others through mentorship ministry on his farm.
Erin graduated from Asbury in 2002 with a degree in Sociology. She loves to cook, bake, garden, and make jewelry, soap and cards.
Tim and Erin took over ownership of Solomon’s Porch in July 2004. It has been a dream they shared together since they were dating. It is truly God’s prompting that led them into ownership 20 years ago. They are excited about the ministry possibilities of Solomon’s Porch as well as the Development of small business in the small town of Wilmore.
Tim and Erin have been given 5 children and 1 grandchild.   Outside of work, they are slowly fixing up a 1895 farmhouse, restoring a 65 acre farm and leading a middle school youth group at Oasis Community Church in Nicholasville.    They have many animals (productive and therapeutic) and continue to restore Hopeful Hills farmstead in order to use it for ministry whenever God leads.
